Evelyn Parry, the author of At Rest in Lincoln County, clipped and pasted these newspaper obituaries and articles. They range from 1957 through the 1990s. The clippings are obituaries and honors from Oregon newspapers. Many, but not all articles are about local people and/or local connections. There are many from other parts of Oregon, and some deal with the national people of the time.  Mrs. Parry passed this collection on to Lincoln County Genealogical Society member Art Kelly. Mr. Kelly stored them until he moved to Washington State in 2014. At that time, he passed the collection on to L.C.G.S. member Chuck Moody. Mr. Moody organized the large collection alphabetically by surname. Unfortunately, cancer overtook Mr. Moody before he could do more.
The original formatting and organization of the collection created challenges to making them accessible. Rather than return the collection to storage, L.C.G.S. member Duane Ellis began indexing the surnames and placing the originals in 3 ring binders for use in the Toledo Library. In June 2016, the index filled one 3-inch binder; the original collection is in the eight 3-inch binders. There are over 22,000 surname entries in the completed collection. I hope that this collection can eventually be digitized. Until then, the collection will be available to people working on their family history through the Toledo Public Library in Toledo, Oregon. Lincoln County Genealogical Society member, Duane Ellis, indexed and compiled this collection.  Duane Ellis

Evelyn Lucille Payne (later Parry). She was born February 23, 1906, in Tillamook, Oregon, to Irvin R. and Minnie W. (Stuivenga) Payne. She married Glenn D. Parry in Lincoln County on August 9, 1926, and lived in Toledo for the remainder of her life.

Evelyn actively participated in the Lincoln County Historical Society for most of her adult life. Her dedication to preserving history and genealogy was remarkable. Evelyn Parry's literary talents shone through as she authored three books: "At Rest in Lincoln County." "On the Yaquina at Big Elk," and "Pictorial Toledo." She was a valued member of the Eureka Cemetery Association and served as the sexton of the Toledo Cemetery Association. Evelyn's contributions to family history research and documentation were immeasurable, benefiting countess researchers and historians. Sadly, Evelyn Parry passed away on July 10, 1994, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge and dedication to the history of Lincoln County.
